Posting Comments? Leave Your Twitter Name, Not Your Blog URL
Every time I comment on a blog, I identify myself by my name and blog URL. Or, at least, I used to.
Lately I’ve been leaving my Twitter address in the URL field of the comment form instead. Why? Here are a few reasons:
- You can find my blog URL on my Twitter profile page.
- You’re on Twitter all day, NOT my blog. I wanna get to know you, which means meeting you on your turf.
- I get most of my blog traffic from Twitter anyway.
- Twitter is a more interactive medium (for me, anyway) than a blog.
- I share more stuff — especially other people’s stuff — on Twitter than on my blog.
- My blog gets new content 2-3 times a week. My Twitter stream gets new content 20-30 times a day.
It seems to work, too: When I leave my Twittername, I get more Twitter followers and blog subscribers.
Thoughts?
