Seven Things Most People Don't Know About Me

11 Dec

Forgotten WindowsLisa Hoffmann tagged me to share “Seven Things Most People Don’t Know About Me,” so here goes…

  1. When I was about eight or nine years old, I rode my bicycle from Syracuse to Buffalo with my dad and kid brother. It’s about 150 miles as the crow flies. We stuck to the back roads. We stretched out our blankets in ball fields at night. It took four days.

  2. I’m afraid of balloons.

  3. My heroes include Dick Winters, Jamie Badding (my cousin, whom I met just once), Tyler Hepburn (my little brother), the emergency responders of 9/11, John Lennon and Winston Churchill.

  4. Summer. Cuba, New York. My grandparents’ camp. Me and my cousins are walking up the long, steep, curved driveway, amusing ourselves by throwing rocks toward the county road below. We’re halfway home when a sedan with a priest and a nun in it rumbles by, the windshield clearly busted. We’re not Catholic. Nobody in our family is. This…isn’t…good. “Hail Mary, full of grace…”

  5. I remember my dreams in high-definition detail.

  6. I still cry when I watch Rudy.

  7. On December 23, 2000, I was rear-ended by a tractor trailer headed south on I-81. The impact drove my car into the concrete barrier between the northbound and southbound lanes, turning my car into a scrap metal accordion. Somehow, I was (mostly) unhurt. Two hours later, I was on a bus to Washington, D.C. The lady at the depot said I could only bring two bags, so I left my clothes in Scranton and brought the Christmas presents for my family. Every Christmas, I think about the truck driver, and hope he is doing okay.

And now, I’m tagging you:

RoseBeezy - Say hello to Riveting Rosie

Kim Banks - A true Palmetto PR Diva

B.L. Ochman – Yes, that B.L. Ochman. Does she dare play along? Stay tuned to see What’s Next.

The Seanachai - Never met him. Never spoken to him. Just discovered him. Brilliant storyteller. Will he share seven things in audio format?

David Griner - Leave your puffery and braggadocio behind and walk down The Social Path.

Suzanne Tobias - I just dare you to write a column about this, Suzanne.

Harry Hoover - It’s My Creative Team. Well, technically, it’s Harry’s, but you know what I mean.
